Create an Avid Style space, set Mac protocol to SMB, then promote it to Edit Whilst Capture using EditShare manager. Use a Windows PC or Mac running Yosemite/El Capitan/Sierra. Map the media space. Record one or two channels of SDI into this Media space from Flow Browse using an Avid EWC codec. Set the chunking to appropriate number of minutes, say 5 or 30 minutes.
From Flow Browse drag the RED recording clip into your Avid bin, load into viewer and you will see a file that has fixed length and back fills with pictures as the recording continues.
Create a Managed or Unmanaged space, set Mac protocol to SMB. DO NOT promote to EWC. Use a Windows PC or Mac running Yosemite/El Capitan/Sierra. Map the media space. In Flow Browse record one or two channels into this Media Space from Flow Browse, using a frame based codec such as AVC-Intra 100 and MXF OP1A or QuickTime wrapper Set chunking to an appropriate number of minutes, say 5 or 30 minutes.
In Premiere use FILE – IMPORT to locate the growing File in Finder/Explorer. The file will appear in the bin and the duration will update in the bin. Load this clip into the viewer and the file will refresh showing a grow file in the viewer.
If you drag and drop from Flow Browse you will see a fixed length of the recording and you will not see the duration update in the bin.
NOTE: If you are making the recording using a none-EditShare capture device refer to the manufacturers documentation regarding support of growing files. Expect the Premiere workflow to be as above for capture from a capture card in a Premiere workstation.
